When it comes to additive manufacturing, finishing (or post-processing) is just as important as the design and printing stages to produce ready-to-use parts and products. Post-processing can bring many improvements, such as better aesthetics, geometric accuracy, mechanical functionalities and properties, desired surface features, and improved part quality. In addition to our additive manufacturing capabilities and advanced materials, Avid offers a full suite of post-processing and finishing options to enhance the quality of your end-use parts.

Surface Smoothing

The natural finish of HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) 3D printed parts is a matte grey. Parts can be dyed black free of charge or chemically smoothed using AMT PostPro3D automated chemical vapor smoothing system to achieve a surface quality approaching injection molding for MJF 3D printed parts, including nylons and TPU.

Surface smoothing not only creates beautifully looking parts while retaining dimensional accuracy, it also enhances mechanical performance and improves surface impermeability for easy cleaning, dyeing, and coating. Also available for Selective Laser Sintering and Fused Deposition Modeling.

With DyeMansion DeepDye Color (DDC) technology, we can color your Multi Jet Fusion end-use parts and products at scale.

Our DyeMansion DM60 is an industrial post-processing system for reproducible pigmentation. MJF parts are dyed under pressure and heat, infiltrating color pigments into the pores of the surface. This way the dye reaches areas that otherwise would not be covered via spray painting or pot dyeing. The DyeMansion DM60 is a traceable, automated coloring process ideal for series manufacturing in Lubrizol ESTANE® 3D TPU M95A or PA 12.

Along with a certified selection of standard colors, DDC technology also offers maximum flexibility with DyeMansion Color Matching.
