It is with great sadness to share that Doug Collins passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2022, while enjoying his passion of mountain biking at the Devil’s Backbone Open Space in Loveland, Colorado.
Born in North Dakota, Doug callled Loveland and Colorado home for decades. He loved mountain biking and specifically riding the Devil’s Backbone. In addition to mountain biking, Doug loved traveling with his best friend and college sweetheart, his wife Leslie Collins, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowboarding. Doug will be greatly missed by his wife and their adored cat, Carlos, by his family and friends, and by everyone that knew him.
Doug’s tribute may be viewed on Goesfuneralcare.com, where you also can share condolesences and memories with his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Doug’s favorite organizations, Routt County Riders in support of his love for Steamboat Springs and the riding community and Larimer County Humane Society for his beloved cats, Mollie (departed) and Carlos, or to the Colorado School of Mines scholarship established in his memory.
Doug was more than our founder and a gifted mechanical engineer; he was a pillar of the Avid family and the 3D printing community. We all miss him more than words can express.
