Doug-Informal

Background:
For the past 21 years, I’ve been dedicated to my passion—working with clients to design, prototype, 3D-print and manufacture products. I describe this tinkering, designing and creating as my calling. I love working with inventors and creatives to see their dreams become reality.

The son of a math and science teacher and grandson of a 3rd grade-educated farmer (the original mechanical engineers), I was raised in rural North Dakota. My Mechanical Engineering degree is from Colorado School of Mines.

What do you love about working at Avid?
The relationships, both with our team and clients. Working with a very talented engineering team to brainstorm and develop new products and figure out the “somehow” is gratifying. Designing products in collaboration with our very talented clients is a rewarding experience that has forged good friendships as well as successful projects.

What’s the best engineer (or inventor) joke you’ve heard?
To the optimist, the glass is half-full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half-empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
